2010 MISSIONS EVENTS

Visiting Missionaries in 2010

Steve and Lloy Bennett and family, missionaries to Israel/Palestine, were with us in January. What a blessing to support this fine family as they reach out to the Israeli people! They have been missionaries for more than 16 years and look forward to returning to their field of labor.

We were privileged to fellowship with the Eddy Kennedy family from New Caledonia, South Pacific in March. We've been partnering with them in the gospel since their arrival in New Caledonia. It has been exciting to see them establish the first body of Apostolic believers on the island. God is doing great things there and using the Kennedys in a special way!

Richard and Jean Lucas were with us this year. We've been partners with them for a number of years and were blessed to be with them after a long time. It was awesome to hear what God is doing in Japan through these awesome people!

We were happy to spend time with some other Partners in Missions as well. While we can't state their name in connection with their country, we are excited to hear what God is doing among people who don't have true freedom of religion.

Missions Team Formed

I'm excited to announce that Faith Temple now has a team of people who are committed to missions work around the world. The team includes Kimberly Terry, Nate & Heather Peterson, Abigail Coba, Kim Harris, Lisa Plein, Tina Pease, and Mindy Pease.  At present, we are planning an arts/craft sale at Grand Harbor in April. We've been blessed with a donation of beautiful art prints to be sold there. The prints are of oil paintings by artist Karen Thomas of Dubuque.

GATS (Global Association of Theological Studies)

At the 2009 General Conference in St. Louis, Faith Temple committed to underwriting a GATS course that is being prepared for overseas Bible school training. This course, along with many others, will enable many more men and women to receive the proper training and tools they need to evangelize their world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We at Faith Temple are committed to raising $5000 in 2010 to help make GATS a reality!

We congratulate the Youth Ministry of Faith Temple for being the first ministry of our church to raise $500 fo GATS. Thank you to the youth and the adults who helped them succeed!

September 2010: Falling in Love with Missions
Again or for the First Time?
Below are some pointers/information for each day on the calendar. Please take time to pray daily for these needs and feel free to write down anything you feel impressed to pass on. If you have any questions, see Sis. Kimberly Terry.
1.      Missionaries on Medical Leave: Bro. Steve Willoughby (Singapore)—melanoma; Sis. Markham (Spain/Portugal)—back problems/surgery; Bro. & Sis. Chester Terry (Australia); Sis. Janice Hersey (Russia); and Bro. Ken Burgess (Argentina).
2.      AIMers (Associates in Missions): missionaries who are a great help to appointed missionaries; they don’t have the benefit of PIMs as appointed missionaries; are normally on location short-term; they teach/preach in Bible schools/churches, sometimes work jobs on the field, pastor churches overseas, do a lot of outreach; sacrifice much to be on the field.
3.      MKs (Missionary Kids): they’re called because their parents are called. Pray they have a strong relationship with God and adjust easily when going back/forth between cultures, and that they have a love for the people they live among.
4.      Missionaries’ families who remain in the USA: missionaries leave behind family that may not understand or agree with their call to preach the gospel in other cultures. They are concerned for their missions-minded kids’ and grandchildren’s safety, wellbeing, and family relationships. Missionaries are not always able to come home for family funerals, reunions, weddings, births, graduations, etc. Pray their family ties will remain strong despite the separation.
5.      GATS (Global Association of Theological Studies): overseas Bible school curriculum/program that will enable men/women to pursue a theology degree and receive strong biblical training to carry on the work of God among their own people. Pray for funds to be available for the curriculum to be translated into other countries. Faith Temple has committed to paying $5,000 to this endeavor by October 1. What can you give to GATS today to help us reach that?
6.      All Missionaries in Central America: pray for continued and increased revival. Pray for those in hostile areas and that God will use them for His kingdom. Most missionaries in this region are Spanish-speaking, but all are there to speak the Word of God to untold millions.
7.      SMILEs to be established in every country: Many countries are now realizing the importance of teaching their children the Word of God and missionaries are working to train teachers. Every city in every country needs SMILE for their kids!
8.      All Missionaries in South America: Spanish/Portuguese-speaking missionaries in this region are working hard to reap a massive harvest before Jesus comes. Pray for their strength, health, walk with God, and for fresh new ways of reaching “their” people. Pray for those facing retirement and that God will send competent, reliable, and faithful laborers to take their place at the right time.
9.      More laborers to be called and sent: many places in the world are without a witness. The Bible says that the harvest truly is plenty, but the laborers are few. It also tells us to pray that the Lord of the harvest will send for laborers into the harvest field. Praying for God to call more missionaries to the field is important because God wants the world to know Him!
10. Missionary wives: they are sometimes left alone while their husbands travel, yet share their husbands’ burden in a tremendous way. Pray for them to be strong, at peace, safe, and committed to helping other women reach their potential in God.
11. Revelation of Jesus Christ to Jews and Muslims: Revelation of Jesus Christ and obedience to His Word are the 2 necessary keys to bringing peace between these people groups. Pray for revival among them and that Apostolics will be wise and anointed in witnessing to them.
12. Missionaries who are apart from grandchildren: Missionaries often miss the birth of their grandchildren and see little of their growing up years. Pray for them to maintain a relationship with them and that they’ll be able to keep regular contact with them.
13. Overseas Bible school students: they make great sacrifices to go to Bible school. Pray they will be committed to the Word of God and reaching their people. Also, pray that God will supply the need for them to go to school as they must work during the day in many cases, leave their families behind while they travel to go to school at night, and for a financial blessing upon them and their families. Upon graduation, many of them will pastor numerous churches/preaching points. Pray for their strength.
14. All Missionaries in Europe and the Middle East: missionaries in these regions deal with many liberal and modern ways of thinking. As Islam is quickly spreading across Europe, pray for an infusion of the Holy Ghost and Apostolic faith in Europe and the Middle East.
15. Overseas Holy Ghost Crusades: Thousands upon thousands receive the Holy Ghost, are baptized in Jesus’ name, and healed in these crusades. Pray for unity among the preaching teams and continued outpouring of God’s Spirit in these meetings.
16. The Foreign Missions Board: Pray for them as they direct foreign missions endeavors and appoint more missionaries to go into the harvest. Pray for unity and love among them and that they will have the mind of Christ.
17. Persecuted Christians: thousands of Christians hostile nations are living for God every day with incredible risk. In the last week, many Apostolics were arrested in a totalitarian country that has been experiencing great revival and growth. A number of them have already been sentenced to death. Pray for a miracle for them be released and pray for the children who’ve been left behind.
18.  Come Encounter Jesus: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Be there! Don’t miss it for anything!
19. National Pastors and their families: Pray for these families as they carry on the work that missionaries have started. When missionaries must return to the USA for any reason, Nationals will carry on the work. This is what missionaries work very hard to achieve. Pray that Nationals will be trustworthy, walk in the Spirit, and will abide in the truth.
20. Revival among American Indians: This is a ministry that is often overlooked and nearly forgotten part of the American culture. Many American Indian tribes are experiencing revival. Pray for more in these tribes to experience the liberating power of Jesus Christ!
21. Word of God to be translated into more languages: While Bibles are available in all major languages, there are many tribes and peoples still without the precious Word of God. Pray that missionaries can get in their hands, either in written or oral form.
22. All Missionaries in Asia: While we may see Asian people as stoic and without much emotion, Asians are experiencing Jesus Christ and they’re not afraid to show it! Still millions upon millions are steeped in religious traditions that do not offer them peace in their hearts. Pray for revival among the Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists, etc.
23. My/our Faith Promise pledge for 2010-2011: How much will I commit on a monthly basis so the Gospel will continue to be preached around the world? Lord, speak and I will obey!
24. Safety of Missionaries and their families: missionaries are often in dangerous situation, whether it’s on the edge of a muddy mountain road, in a plane, facing terrorism/persecution, or dealing with life-threatening sickness. Plead the blood upon them!
25. All Missionaries in the South Pacific: Pray these missionaries will not feel isolated and along; pray that God will give them perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him. Pray for increased revival!
26. Faith Promise Renewal Service: Know that whatever amount of money God has directed you to commit in this service, He will provide for you. Faith Promise means that as you give faithfully to missions, God has promised to provide for you!
27. All Missionaries in Africa: Africa is a hard place for missionaries’ physical bodies as most of the continent is poor and underdeveloped. But they are experiencing great revival. Pray for the children and those left as orphans due to the AIDS pandemic. Pray also for many more to receive the revelation of One God!
28. All Home Missionaries in North America: Pray they will not be influenced by worldliness or the temptation to let down on holiness. Pray they will be committed to the cities God sends them to harvest and that they will reap in due season if they faint not.
29. Unreached People Groups: There are many people groups around the world that have no witness. They are often in remote areas, may not be open to people outside their group, and many have never heard of Jesus Christ. Pray for a witness to be sent to them and that the witness will be received.
30. Missionaries in language school: As missionaries are sent out to new fields, they often must go through language school before they can preach on the field. Pray that God will provide them with interpreters while they’re studying and that they’ll learn the language quickly! Also, pray God will open doors to witness while they’re in language school.
